General Information

The Chandler Public Library is funded by the City of Chandler and  by Henderson County. Additional funding is gained through grants and  friends of the Chandler Public Library.

The library serves over 10,000 people in eastern Henderson County. The library is not allowed to issue cards to people living in other counties (with the exception of people living north of Chandler on FM 2010, Hwy 315 and FM 279 who have a Chandler mailing address). There are not funds available to serve non-residents.

Voters in the city of Chandler approved a bond for up to $2.5 million to enlarge the current facility. The building does not currently meet standards for handicap accessibility nor national guidelines for collection space.  Because space has been over utilized for collections, the current facility does not provide a safe environment for traffic flow.  Patrons need more workspace, designated areas for video conferencing, and individual space for tutoring and persons working virtually.  The addition will be added to the south side on land donated in 2017 by the Luster Kidd family.  Construction should begin in the early fall of 2024.  The illustration below is of the south facing new additon.
